Good socially responsible film.

Summary : Thondan has its own flaws along with a slightly disappointing narrative style, but Samudhrakani has a story that needs to be taken to the audience. His social responsibilities are intact and though he might not actually hit the right button to hit the bull’s eye, his aim needs to be lauded.

There’s something in Samudhrakani’s films. He’s like a teacher who can never stop teaching, and won’t back down without giving you courses on how to live your life right. You’ll have to sit through some exaggerations for the same, but at the end of the day, his intent has wood. In his latest outing Thondan, he centers his morals around the life of an ambulance driver, with enough connectors to the medical fraternity.

The film is a big message-spitting class with an overdose of emotions and some commercial compromises too, but what it does right is not bite more than what it can chew. Grounded and real, Samudhrakani exposes the deeds of the politicians and men folk who bend the laws for their habitat. The proceedings do not wear out completely at any point, and the director is clever enough to bring back the excitement just when it looks like he will lose his grip.

In terms of his acts, Samudhrakani is getting better day to day with good amount of support from Vikranth this time. He manages his actors well too, with Soori and Thambi Ramaih’s cameos going in nicely as well.

Technically adequate, Thondan has a couple of good songs by Justin Prabhakaran and a theme track that likes to repeat itself.

Toting up, Thondan has its own flaws along with a slightly disappointing narrative style, but Samudhrakani has a story that needs to be taken to the audience. His social responsibilities are intact and though he might not actually hit the right button to hit the bull’s eye, his aim needs to be lauded.
