Director Samuthirakani is getting busy as an actor. Close on the heels of signing to play an important role in Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’, he will now play a key character in a film to be directed by Priyadarshan.
Starring Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead role, the movie is a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’. It is said Samuthirakani is in talks to play the baddie in the flick.
Recently, Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote on his social media page: “Happy to announce my next project wit Dir Priyadarshan sir! Produced by moonshot entertainment Santosh sir!”.
On his part, Priyadarshan said, “The film’s screenplay will have ample changes, the characters and the backdrop will be tweaked to suit the sensibilities of Tamil audiences. This version will have more scope for humour, too.”
Maheshinte Prathikaaram (English: Mahesh’s Revenge) is based on an incident in the life of Thampan Purushan from Thuravoor, Cherthala.
The film tells the story of Mahesh Bhavana (Faasil), a photographer, who attempts to defuse a conflict between his friend Crispin (Shahir) and a group of youngsters passing through their village, and is knocked to the ground. Defeated in the tussle and unable to fight back, he is embarrassed in front of his neighbours. Mahesh publicly vows that he will not wear his slippers again until he has avenged the humiliation.
