Adithyan passes away, industry mourns

Adithyan, who composed music for films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies, died in a hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday due to kidney failure. He was 63.

He is survived by wife Sofiya and daughters Sharon and Prarthana. Expressing shock at Adithyan’s death, music composer D Imman, said, “He was a wonderful composer. He had a flair for new sounds. He knew exactly what he was doing. He had sound knowledge of western music. It is a great loss for the music fraternity.”

Filmmaker K Rajeshwar introduced Adithyan to cinema with ‘Amaran’ and continued to work with him in several films.

He said: “We were good friends. He knows exactly what I want and gives me the best. I am shocked at his demise.”

Adithyan, who made his debut as music director with Karthik starrer ‘Amaran’ in 1992, has worked in over 30 films including ‘Maman Magal’, ‘Luckyman’, ‘Asuran’, ‘Sevaalaperi Paandi’, ‘Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi’ among others. He has also composed music for films in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
