Iravukku Aayiram Kangal is a neat crime thriller; a film which completely relies on the screenplay with a basic premise but excellent turns. So many characters and twists for a simple plot drive the film and the narration has more repeated scenes for the audience, which makes it quite a long watch and slightly difficult to comprehend.

Arulnithi, a cab driver lives a simple life with no complications and has a daily habit of meeting Mahima, his love interest. As Mahima along with her friends attend a small function and returns home, a cab driver misbehaves with her. But she’s rescued by Ajmal, who saves her from the issue. When she gets to meet him again, she hands over a pen drive which Ajmal missed during the fight and from there on he follows Mahima and troubles her without the knowledge of her boyfriend Arulnithi. This leads to a cobweb of interesting turn of events and a mystery murder as well.

The narration is quite clustered and the maker has taken the effort to untie all the knots forcing him to opt for repeated scenes at times to spoon feed the audiences.  The film has its interesting part as well, even a small patch has been entirely covered by the director and his efforts are not in vain as he was able to pull it off to make it a watchable thriller. And at the same time it has the lags as well with some predictable incidents and the audience of this era is quite ahead. His novel narration has no loopholes except for some dramatic expressions from the cast and similar scenes that tested our patience for a while.

Overall Iravukku Aayiram Kangal should be a safe outing, with some nice thrilling moments. However, it could have been gripping if the characters had more strengths.
