A not-so-bad commercial entertainer!

Summary : Bhaskar Oru Rascal is a very middling commercial entertainer that tries hard to entertain but only does that in bits. The film has Arvind Swami in his element, doing his part in style, but Siddique’s incompetent writing with little support from the rest of the cast are a worry.

Bhaskar Oru Rascal is a very middling commercial entertainer that tries hard to entertain but only does that in bits. The film has Arvind Swami in his element, doing his part in style, but Siddique’s incompetent writing with little support from the rest of the cast are a worry.

The first half of the film is the better of the two with the kids – Nainika and Raghavan taking centre stage with their cutesy aura being spread all over the place. Amala Paul as a stylish mom looks good, and is the eye-candy quotient in the film. Thanks to Siddique for keeping the central roles at a palpable level. It’s only in the second half that the film goes downhill, with the villains staying on the weaker side. Even the stunts do not matter much when they actually could have, thanks to the poor coordination.

There’s no technical value either as the film is basic in departments such as the cinematography, music and editing. Amrish’s Amma I Love You number is the standout song from the film, finding a liking with many.

For those looking for mass entertainers, Bhaskar Oru Rascal might fit satisfactions. But for the others, it’s just a partly instilling commercial entertainer. Arvind Swami has a great day out even though it’s not his type of role, and the kids amount some fun. Except for these two factors, it’s an average fare.
