AGS Entertainment on Wednesday announced that Tamil superstar Vijay’s next film will be helmed by director Atlee. The producers also announced that Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has come on board for the film, which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 63.
This will be Rahman’s third consecutive collaboration with Vijay after Mersal and Sarkar. In a statement, the filmmakers also said they are in the process of assembling a solid technical crew and star cast for the film. “Thalapathy 63 promises to be a PAKKA MASS family entertainer with a large cast, superior technical crew and the best of production value (sic),” the statement added. “We are putting together the best global talent to attempt a genre that will be the first of its kind for Thalapathy Vijay.”
Cinematographer GK Vishnu, art director Muthuraj, editor Ruben L Antony, lyricist Vivek, executive producer SM Venkat Manickam, creative producer Archana Kalpathi are part of the film’s core technical crew. The filmmakers are expected to disclose the details of the star cast soon.
The yet-to-be-titled film will hit the screens during Diwali next year, said the filmmakers.

The upcoming film will mark Atlee’s third collaboration with Vijay after blockbusters Theri and Mersal.
Vijay’s latest film Sarkar which came out during the Diwali holidays is still keeping the cash registers ringing at the box office. The political drama directed by AR Murugadoss has, reportedly, collected over Rs 200 crore worldwide.
