A carefully constructed, schematic soundtrack.

Summary : Kanne Kalaimaane is a very controlled and meditative soundtrack from Yuvan, who makes sure that it does not lose its shape by turning too noisy or celebratory at any point. The love songs are simplistic in nature, and will have varied lifetimes. Overall, it may not be as lovable as a Dharmadurai, but is still a pretty good assemblage.

Azhaikkatuma: Singer – Mathichiyam Bala

More of a song that will work with the visuals, rather than just on the audio, because of the narrative pattern that comes along. Something different for Mathichiyam Bala following Makka Kalanguthappa, and its laudable how Yuvan is able to handle music at this level being a mainstream composer.

Neenda Malare: Singers – Yazin Nizar, Shweta Pandit

A simple and effective love song that is well sung by both Yazin Nizar and Shweta. Yuvan clings onto a very basic backdrop and loops it for the majority of the song, supported by tablas. The flute interludes too, are quite likable.

Endhan Kangalai: Singer – Sooraj Santhosh

A seen-before orchestration yes, but the consistency is what helps this through. Of course, Sooraj Santhosh is an apt man on the mic for this track.

Sevvandhi Poove: Singers – Karthik, Pragathi Guruprasad

Lot of Yuvanisms in this love track which is synonymous to many of his earlier compositions. Not a tune that will stick around for long.

Vaa Vellai Raasathi: Singer – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Easily the best song in the entire soundtrack, crooned perfectly by Yuvan. There is a haunting feel to it, which is well translated through the lyrics as well. A very different approach to a pathos track that wants to convey something important. Our PICK
