Thumba is a fairly good film and narrated in a very simple way with fine support from the VFX team. The movie revolves around various characters and all seem to be apt for the script.

Thumbaa is all about the T-14 tiger that escapes the reserve forest along with her cubs and is rumoured to be wandering in the Topslip in the Nilgris forest. Then, the film starts to flow in a predictable way and the scenes were highlighted with graphics, which is okay considering the budget, but definitely would look lively and fun for kids.

Darshan delivers a casual performance and leads the plot. Dheena makes a good entry to the large screen who can get a grip as time moves by. Dheena is hired to paint a Tiger statue in the reserve forest Topslip. He takes Darshan along with him as a companion which provides for some timely giggles. The fun with the monkey and elephant chase seems to be good for kids but some ordinary VFX work makes it a plain watch. Keeerthi Pandain makes a nice entry to K’Town and comes in as a wildlife photographer. There seems to be no time for emotions and the plot relies just on commercial elements. The villagers and the locations look very apt and are captured  wonderfully by the cinematographer. Despite being a small budget film, some neat performances from the cast and crew save Thumbaa and make it watchable.

A surprise cameo from Jayam Ravi is lively and a clear one. Overall, Thumbaa is an earnest attempt in live-action drama genre and delivers a good message alongside entertaining kids/family audience.

Verdict: An earnestly-attempted entertainer!
