Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) announced on Sunday that its members would start a strike from August 1 if the Tamil Film Producers’ Council refused to give wages demanded by the federation.
Speaking to reporters after an emergency meeting in Chennai, FEFSI president R K Selvamani said, “The FEFSI has nearly 25,000 members and it is unfair if the council refuses to pay the wages which have already been agreed upon.”
He also said producers should employ FEFSI workers alone like in the past. “We have already taken a serious view of complaints made by TFPC and issued a strict warning to workers who did not follow rules. Those who spoke against TFPC president Vishal have apologised,” he said.
A total of 23 unions belonging to different trades in the film and television industry are affiliated to the FEFSI, it is to be noted.
