Stalin rejects Kamal’s request

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam working president and leader of opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly, M K Stalin said that nine parties, including the DMK, will not participate in the Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) meeting on Cauvery slated for May 19.

Speaking to reporters, Stalin said, “Though an all-party meeting under DMK has been postponed, all friendly party leaders felt there was no need to participate in the meeting convened by Kamal. We will not attend the meeting.”

It may be recalled that Kamal had met Stalin at Anna Arivalayam recenty and invited him to attend the ‘Tamil Nadu’s voice for Cauvery’, to be conducted in Chennai to discuss and demand the state’s rightful share of water from different dams.

Meanwhile, Kamal is currently on a three-day tour of southern Tamil Nadu. Addressing the public, he said, “I have come here to meet you and know about your problems. This will be a learning experience for me to know my people. There is an urgent need to bring honesty in politics.”
